From the very first message, “LO”, sent between two networked computers at the Stanford Research Institute in 1969, to the more than 2 billion smart phones accessing the web today, the brilliant documentarian Hertzog unravels our connections to the many machines in our lives. There are hackers and gamers and internet addicts, driver-less cars and robots that aim to win the Football World Club in 2050. Never a dull moment on the rollercoaster ride which is a brief history of connectivity and technology in 10 chapters, narrated with the dry wit and abiding curiosity which are trademarks of the veteran film-maker.
